Chebe Dry Mix Preparation

General Preparation for Chebe Mixes

Preparation: 10 min
Bake Time: 25 min. at 375 F

Blend mix in a bowl with 4oz of shredded cheese (optional), 2 medium sized eggs, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Slowly mix in 1/3 C water (some mixes call for milk or liquid milk substitute instead of water).

Mix well until very smooth and well blended. (Add a little water if too dry; add more Chebe mix or food starch if too sticky.)

Roll into 20 balls and place on non-greased baking sheet and bake for approximately 25 min. Serve warm.

Note: Some customers have had success in replacing the egg with egg substitute as follows:

  • 3 Tbs. liquid gelatin. If dough is too dry, add water by the Tbs. until you reach correct consistency, or…
  • Use gelatin as above and also add 1 tsp. egg replacer mixed w/ 2 Tbs. of water, or…
  • 3 tsp Egg Sub + 4 Tbs. warm water, or...
  • Mix 1 T. flax seeds in 1 c. of water. Bring to a boil, simmer gently for 15 minutes, then cool. It turns very gummy and egg-like.

Prepare Chebe Ahead Of Time
It's easy to serve Chebe Bread to company if you freeze the dough ahead of time! Place the dough balls or sticks in a single layer in a freezer bag for up to 30 days. To serve, place the frozen dough balls on a non-greased baking pan and put in a preheated 375 F oven for 30 min. That's it!

Switch Up The Flavor
For flavor variations, try alternate types of cheese. Or add bacon bits, oregano, chopped olives, pesto, chives, garlic, seasoning blends, jalapeños, sun-dried tomatoes...be creative! (Several ideas are listed on our recipe page.)

Not Just For Rolls!
Don't stop with rolls. Chebe Bread can be formed into breadsticks, pizza crusts, sandwich buns, tortillas, calzones, and several other items are also listed on our recipe page.
